Embryo Courier from the UK to the UAE
A hand-carry route between UK and European IVF clinics and the Emirati clinic you nominate — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or the northern emirates. Embryo Links is itself a UAE company, registered in Ajman. The tank travels in the cabin with a UN3373 qualified courier, never in the hold.
How Your Transfer to the UAE Works
Four stages, start to finish. We coordinate every document and every handover — your clinic and your courier are never guessing what happens next.
Consultation & Documentation
We confirm your export and receiving clinics, prepare clinic agreements, and coordinate the documentation both sides need before a collection date is set.
Clinic Collection
Our courier arrives with a pre-charged MVE SC 4/3 dry shipper. Material identity is verified with the releasing embryologist under dual-witness protocol before anything moves.
Cabin Transport to Dubai or Abu Dhabi
The sealed dry shipper travels through security with manual inspection and stays with our courier in the cabin for the entire journey — no hold, no exceptions.
Delivery & Handover
The dry shipper is handed directly to your receiving clinic in the UAE. A second dual-witness verification closes the chain of custody, and you receive a delivery confirmation message.
The MVE SC 4/3 Dry Shipper
Every transfer to the UAE travels in an MVE SC 4/3 vapour-phase liquid nitrogen dry shipper — the same equipment we use on every route we operate. It is DGR-exempt, but still requires written airline approval for every individual booking, which our courier obtains directly from each airline's cargo or dangerous goods division before travel.
The tank is carried as cabin baggage at all times. It is never checked in and never sent as cargo — on this route or any other we operate.
−196°C Continuous
No interruption in temperature from clinic to clinic.
Cabin Carry Only
Never checked in, never cargo — every flight, every time.
Per-Booking Airline Approval
Obtained directly from each airline's DG division before travel.
Dual-Witness Protocol
Verified identity at both collection and delivery, every transfer.
A UAE Company, Moving Into Its Own Market
Embryo Links FZE LLC is registered in Ajman. That is worth stating plainly on this route in particular, because it means the destination country is where the company itself is licensed rather than somewhere it flies into occasionally.
We do not hold a standing partnership with a particular Emirati fertility clinic, and we are not going to imply that we do. You or your referring clinic nominate the receiving centre, and we approach it directly to agree receiving arrangements and the documents each end has to issue — then prepare the courier pack in advance, so nobody is improvising at the point of release.
Moving cord blood or cellular therapy products into or out of the UAE runs under a different regulatory framework from embryos and gametes, and the equipment differs too. We have written that up separately in our brief on cord blood across GCC borders.
Documentation for the UK–UAE Route
Healthcare facilities in the UAE are licensed by the health authority responsible for their emirate — the Ministry of Health and Prevention federally, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi operating their own authorities. A transfer typically involves a clinic agreement from both the exporting and the receiving clinic, a No X-Ray letter addressed to airport security at each departure and arrival point, and customs release documentation for the arrival airport, with the receiving clinic completing whatever authorisation its own authority requires.
Cord blood and stem cells sit under a separate framework. Council of Ministers Decision No. 6 of 2020, the regulations covering cord blood and stem cell storage centres, took effect in January 2022, and under it the import and export of cord blood stem cells requires prior formal permission. That requirement does not attach to embryos and gametes in the same way, which is why the two are planned differently.
This is general information only, not legal or regulatory advice. Requirements change, and the position for any individual transfer should be verified with your clinic's own regulatory department and with the relevant authority before a date is fixed.
Clinic agreements, authorisation and airline approval together typically take several weeks to arrange. Direct carriers serve the route daily, so the flying is rarely the constraint — the paperwork is. Please do not wait until a treatment date is fixed before contacting us.
0% X-Ray Exposure
We do not permit X-ray screening of biological material at any point on the journey — this is a hard operational rule, not a hopeful promise. Our courier carries a full documentation pack requesting manual inspection at every security point on both the departure and arrival side.
If manual inspection cannot be secured at a given checkpoint, the shipment does not proceed through that checkpoint. We plan routes and timing around this rule, not around the exception to it.
Manual Inspection, Every Time
Requested and confirmed in advance at every checkpoint on the route.
Written Documentation
A dedicated No X-Ray letter accompanies the courier at every checkpoint.
What We Bring to a UAE Transfer
A UAE Company
Embryo Links FZE LLC is registered in Ajman, United Arab Emirates. The Gulf is not a market we service from a distance.
A Partner Clinic in Oman
Oman International Hospital is our partner clinic in the region, and we handle import and export of biological material through Oman.
Twelve Years of Routes
More than 1,250 successful transfers to date across more than 30 countries, every one hand-carried in the cabin.
UK to the UAE — Frequently Asked Questions
Will our embryos be X-rayed at any airport on the UK–UAE route?
No. We do not permit X-ray screening of biological material at any point on the journey. Our courier carries a full documentation pack requesting manual inspection at every security point, on both the departure and arrival side, and the shipment does not proceed unless manual inspection is secured.
Are you actually based in the UAE?
Yes. Embryo Links FZE LLC is registered in Ajman, United Arab Emirates. We also hold a partner clinic relationship in Oman, Oman International Hospital, and handle import and export of biological material through Oman. What we do not have is a standing partnership with a particular Emirati fertility clinic — you nominate the receiving centre and we approach it directly.
Which airports do you fly into?
Dubai and Abu Dhabi carry the most direct options from the UK and Europe, and we already work with Emirates and FlyDubai among other carriers. The routing is chosen per booking around which airline will give written approval for the tank as cabin baggage, not around the cheapest fare.
Is the tank ever placed in the aircraft cargo hold?
Never. The dry shipper travels as cabin baggage with our courier at all times, on every leg. This is confirmed in the written airline approval we obtain for each individual booking through the carrier's cargo or dangerous goods division.
Can you move cord blood or stem cells on this route as well?
Yes, but it is planned differently. Cryopreserved cellular products travel in the same vapour-phase dry shipper, while fresh apheresis and marrow products travel in validated containers at +2 to +8 degrees Celsius against a viability window the receiving centre sets. The UAE also regulates cord blood stem cell import and export separately, under Council of Ministers Decision No. 6 of 2020, which requires prior formal permission. Our brief on cord blood across GCC borders covers this in detail.
What does Embryo Links handle, and what stays with our clinic?
We coordinate the courier pack — clinic agreements, No X-Ray letters, customs release documentation and airline approval — and we liaise directly with both clinics about what each one needs to provide. Consent, licensing and the clinical decisions stay with the clinics. We recommend confirming those with your own clinic's regulatory team alongside our coordination.
