Embryo Courier Between the UK and Cyprus
Hand-carry transport for embryos, eggs and sperm between the UK/EU and Cyprus. We coordinate directly with your Cyprus clinic, prepare the regulatory documentation your case needs, and travel with your specimens the whole way — cabin baggage, never cargo.
How the Cyprus Route Works
Four stages, start to finish. Nothing improvised at the airport — every document is prepared before we travel.
Consultation & Documentation
We confirm your Cyprus clinic's requirements and track every document the transfer needs — freezing/storage certification, clinic release paperwork, and the receiving clinic's acceptance documentation.
Clinic Collection
Our courier arrives at your Cyprus clinic with a pre-charged MVE SC 4/3 dry shipper. Specimen identity is verified using dual-witness protocol with the releasing embryologist before anything moves.
Cabin Transport
The courier carries the sealed dry shipper through security, requesting manual inspection rather than X-ray, boards the flight, and keeps the vessel with them throughout — no hold, no exceptions.
Delivery & Handover
The dry shipper is handed directly to the receiving embryologist. A second dual-witness verification completes the chain of custody, and you receive confirmation the moment the transfer is complete.
The MVE SC 4/3 Dry Shipper
Every Cyprus collection travels in our own validated MVE SC 4/3 cryogenic dry shipper, maintaining −196°C without external power for well beyond the duration of a UK/EU–Cyprus journey.
The unit is DGR-exempt but still requires airline approval on a per-booking basis — we arrange this directly with each carrier's cargo or dangerous goods division ahead of every flight. It travels as cabin baggage at all times. It is never checked in and never sent as cargo.

Our Cyprus Clinic Partner
Cyprus Crown IVF
Cyprus
We coordinate directly with Cyprus Crown IVF's lab team on collection scheduling, freezing certification, and the documentation their clinic provides toward the transfer. This is a working relationship built over multiple transfers, not a one-off introduction — the coordination is familiar to both sides.
Cyprus Export & Import Requirements
As an EU member state, Cyprus generally operates within a regulatory framework more familiar to UK and EU clinics than routes further afield. Clinics typically require a completed freezing/storage certificate, a signed clinic release or collection agreement, and supporting patient consent documentation before a transfer can proceed.
For UK-originating transfers, HFEA export documentation requirements introduced after Brexit may apply — your UK clinic's regulatory team is best placed to confirm current requirements for your specific case.
This is informational and educational content, not legal advice — requirements and processing times can change, and every case has its own circumstances. It is strongly recommended to verify current requirements with your specific clinic's regulatory or legal team before relying on any timeline.
On our side, we prepare the courier documentation pack for the route — release letters, customs declarations, and chain-of-custody records — and coordinate the collection date around your clinic's readiness.
0% X-Ray Exposure — We Do Not Permit It
This is not a hedged promise — it is a hard operational rule. We prepare full airport security documentation and request manual inspection at every departure and transit point on this route. If manual inspection cannot be secured, the shipment does not proceed through that point. There is no risk-based exception made to this policy.
X-ray exposure to cryopreserved biological material may compromise viability in ways that are not visible until much later. We treat manual inspection as non-negotiable, not as a best-effort request.
UK to Cyprus Route — FAQ
Which clinic do you work with in Cyprus?
We coordinate directly with Cyprus Crown IVF for collections on this route.
Is this a straightforward route compared to routes outside the EU?
Cyprus is an EU member state, so the regulatory framework tends to be more familiar for UK/EU clinics than routes further afield. That said, every transfer still needs its own documentation prepared correctly — we treat no route as a formality.
What documentation does my Cyprus clinic need to provide?
Clinics we work with in Cyprus typically prepare a freezing/storage certificate confirming the specimens held, a signed clinic release or collection agreement, and any patient consent documentation relevant to the transfer. Exact requirements are set by the clinic, not by us — always confirm the current list directly with your clinic's regulatory or lab team.
Will the tank go through an X-ray scanner at any point?
No. We prepare documentation and request manual inspection at every security point on the route. If manual inspection cannot be secured at a given airport, the shipment does not proceed through that point — this is a hard operational rule, not a best-effort promise.
Do you provide the shipping container, or does the clinic?
We travel with our own validated MVE SC 4/3 cryogenic dry shipper. It arrives ready to be charged with liquid nitrogen at the collecting clinic ahead of collection.
Can you support UK-to-Cyprus and Cyprus-to-UK transfers in both directions?
Yes. We support transfers in either direction — specimens collected in the UK or EU and delivered to a Cyprus clinic, or specimens collected in Cyprus and delivered to a UK or EU clinic. The documentation requirements differ depending on direction, and we plan for the correct set from the start.
How long does the flight-based transport window last?
Direct flights between the UK and Cyprus typically run 4 to 5 hours, well within the operating window of our validated dry shipper, which holds temperature without external power for well beyond a single journey of that length.
"Everything was explained before we asked. Our courier was at the clinic on time, and we had a message the moment our embryos landed in Cyprus. It felt like the least stressful part of the whole process."
